Is there still hope for Tottenham? | Opinion

Portuguese Portugal

Don’t see me as some lunatic Tottenham fan for still believing they won’t be relegated, but I still see a small bit of hope: small, but it exists. And that hope comes from the last game, the 2-2 draw against Brighton, or rather, Tottenham letting it slip with a ridiculous mistake from Danso at 90+5’. Even so, the team genuinely played well by the extremely low standards they’ve shown, especially in this phase of 2026.

There are 5 games left in the Premier League and there are two key moments. The first is the West Ham game, which could completely change the scenario. If West Ham win, honestly, I start to see Tottenham as relegated. The second is Tottenham’s next game against the bottom side, where there’s no margin: only a win matters.

The schedule isn’t easy. Away games against Wolverhampton, Aston Villa and Chelsea, and at home against Leeds United and Everton. Even so, I can see Tottenham picking up 4 or 5 points from this. It’s not much, but it could be enough depending on others.

At some point, the players will have to understand the gravity of the situation. This isn’t just another bad spell, it’s a real risk of relegation. And for a club like Tottenham, that would be one of the biggest scandals in football history.

The last game showed positive signs, something we hadn’t seen in a while. It doesn’t solve everything, but at least it gives a platform to believe. And at this stage, every detail matters, even luck.

Conclusion

There’s still hope, but it’s minimal. The West Ham game will weigh heavily on what happens next, and Tottenham no longer have any margin for error. If they want to stay up, they have to start playing like a team that wants to survive, not one that has already accepted its fate.
