My prediction for Tottenham’s season is here, and we have to start by saying this: thank God they were not relegated. There is a serious debate over whether Tottenham still deserve to be considered part of the BIG 6, the top group in English football, but even if you do not consider them part of it, I would much rather see West Ham in the second division than Tottenham.
That said, I will admit that I got quite a lot wrong and, honestly, I failed to think that De Zerbi was the manager to solve Tottenham’s problems and save them from relegation, but he did it.
A lot of money has been invested, we are talking about almost €300 million, and Tottenham’s midfield is simply absurd, just like their centre-back pairing. Cuti Romero is in the past and that is his own fault, because of the unfortunate behaviour he showed both on and off the pitch. Senesi and Van Hecke are solid, Tonali and Mateus Fernandes are two of the best midfielders in the Premier League, Robertson can still help a lot, but there are still obvious problems, such as the striker.
Tottenham have 3 competitions this season, 2026/27, all domestic, and I honestly expect good things, but within reason. I am not expecting a title challenge or a direct Champions League spot without difficulties, but I can see Tottenham fighting for a Europa League spot, which would already be very good, considering they came from two seasons in which they were almost relegated.
With that, my prediction is:
Premier League → 7th
FA Cup → Round of 16
Carabao Cup → Quarter-finals
Conclusion
Can this be considered a bad season? I don’t know, but it is better than the last one. I would like Tottenham to genuinely go into one of the domestic cup competitions with the desire to win it and see if they could get a trophy, which would help a lot.
