Como 3 – 4 Inter | Analysis

Portuguese Portugal

In this Como vs Inter match, I analyse the key tactical moments, individual performances and turning points of the game.

In Italy, Como 1907 and Inter Milan produced one of those games that start sleepy and end completely chaotic.

For more than half an hour, very little happened. Low tempo, few ideas, almost no danger. A strange game, even boring and far from what was expected. Inter weren’t creating, Como had more initiative but without much depth. Everything was under control, until it wasn’t.

In the 36th minute, the game finally woke up. Nico Paz receives the ball, drives into the box with quality, shoots and forces Sommer into a save. On the rebound, Álex Valle appears and shoots, the ball even hits the post before going in. A goal built on persistence and presence in the box. 1-0, deserved for what Como had been showing.

Shortly after, another blow. In the 45th minute, a long ball from the goalkeeper finds space behind the defence and Nico Paz appears again. He controls with space, drives forward and finishes calmly, placed into the far corner. A clean goal from someone who knows exactly what he’s doing. 2-0.

But football has its moments. In the 45+1 minute, almost immediately in response, Barella crosses and Thuram anticipates brilliantly, getting his foot in front of the defender and pulling one back. A goal that comes almost out of nowhere, but absolutely crucial. 2-1.

In the 49th minute, it’s level. Long ball, defensive hesitation, Thuram takes advantage, wins the duel and lifts it over the goalkeeper with quality. Total composure and in just a few minutes, Inter erase everything they did wrong in the first half.

And it doesn’t stop there. In the 58th minute, from a free kick, the ball is delivered to the far post and Dumfries appears completely unmarked to head it in. Simple, effective. 2-3. Complete turnaround.

Here’s a direct opinion: Como didn’t deserve to be losing. They played more, created more, were the better team. But football isn’t about fairness, it’s about efficiency. And Inter were clinical.

And there was more. In the 72nd minute, another set piece, chaos in the box and Dumfries appears again. This time he reacts quickly, strikes well and makes it four. 2-4. It’s almost absurd to look at the game and see this scoreline.

Como don’t give up. They keep pushing, keep believing. And in the 88th minute, they pull one back from the penalty spot. Lucas da Cunha steps up, hits it hard, Sommer gets a touch but can’t stop it. 3-4.

And the ending is madness. Ball into the box, shots, rebounds and one last chance that hits the crossbar. The equaliser was right there, but it didn’t go in.

In the end, one thing is clear: Como did a lot to win, but Inter did what actually matters.

Post-match

An unbelievable win for Inter, built on ruthless efficiency. Como leave defeated, but with a performance that deserved a different result.
